Georgetown11(3)The Air Jordan 11 “Georgetown”draws from a multitude of inspirations. There is the last shot MJ hit on the Hoyas to give the Tar Heels their victory in the 1982 NCAA Championship. There is also the coming of age moment for Georgetown alumni Allen Iverson who crossed over his Airness at the top of the key and hit a shot on him, Iverson was also an avid wearer of the Air Jordan 11 when he went to Georgetown. Then there is the last and least nostalgic reason for these shoes existing, Jordan Brand sponsors the Georgetown Hoyas.

Visual Appeal

The Georgetown 11 is a clean and simple Colorway. The Color blocking of the shoe consist of 3 main colors Mist Grey is on the mesh part of the upper contrasted by Midnight Navy on the patent leather, while the midsole is white.  The shoes is definitely easy on the eyes

Materials

Georgetown11(5)The upper consist of nylon mesh which will present some difficulty cleaning overtime as dirt builds up in the threads. The nylon upper suffices, but it would have been better to see Jordan Brand use a nubuck upper similar to the Cool Grey 11’s and the Georgetown 11 mid samples.

Another area where improvements could have been made is in the heel area of the shoe. Jordan brand decided to use the mediocre leather found on Retros in the past year few years, instead of the step up tumbled leather used on the current remastered retros; like the French Blue 7’s, the Columbia and Oreo 4’s.

It’s sad to see Jordan Brand not live up to their promise of remastering all the retros in their 2015 line up and going forward, as of now it seems like they are picking and choosing which shoes to give the remastered treatment of better materials.

I’ve also noticed that none of their low top models have received upgraded materials.

The midsole is a typical white midsole found on numerous Air Jordan 11’s including; Space Jams, Breds, and Cool Greys. The outsole is also the typical Blue tinted clear outsole Jordan Brand has been using since about 2007, While it doesn’t particularly hurt the Georgetown 11’s it would have been a more aesthetically pleasing to see a clear icy bottom.

Build Quality

The Retail pair of Georgetown 11’s I received had some glue marks around where the patented leather meets the insole. This was not a deal breaker; however, on the left shoe I noticed the midsole wasn’t glued on as neatly as it should have, the was a slight separation going on between the midsole and the patented leather. The separation is barely noticeable, but those who are anal like myself will notice it, and it will definitely detract for some.

Longevity

The Georgetown 11’s should last awhile, but just like all 11’s the icy bottom will eventually yellow. While some people like that look I feel like that yellowing will definitely detract from this sneaker as it worsens.
